They are often confused with the Woolly Mammoth, as they both share similar large tusks and furry body. Although Mammoths seemed to have lived in small family units, the Mastodon fossils have been found isolated, leading to the hypothesis that they lived a solitary lifestyle as adults.
• Fun Fact : The name Mastodon means "Nipple Tooth," referring to the shape of the Mastodon's molar teeth.
